Gluten Free Shopping works as a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it on your phone and use it in-store without an internet connection.
How to install
📱 Android (Chrome)
- Open this website in Chrome
- Tap the ⋮ menu (three dots, top right)
- Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
- Confirm — the app icon appears on your home screen
📱 iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- Open this website in Safari (not Chrome)
- Tap the Share button (square with upward arrow, bottom of screen)
- Tap "Add to Home Screen"
- Tap "Add" — the app icon appears on your home screen
How offline use works
Once installed, the app caches pages and images you've visited. Here's how to prepare for a shopping trip:
- At home or hotel (on wifi): Browse the country you're visiting, open products you're interested in, and bookmark them.
- In-store (no signal): Open the app from your home screen. Go to Shopping List — your saved products and their images will load from the cache, even without internet.
- Show the product photo to a shop employee to help find it in the store.
What gets cached
- ✅ Product photos and label photos you've viewed
- ✅ Pages you've visited (browse, product detail, bookmarks)
- ✅ The app itself (layout, styles, icons)
Note: Pages you haven't visited before going offline won't be available. Make sure to browse and bookmark products while you still have internet.
